From Operation Mincemeat to TWO STRANGERS: Learnings from BEAM AND the UK Musical Theatre Network

“Writing a musical is very difficult and new musicals require a great deal of developmental support… We support writers and nurture outstanding new musicals in the UK”.

For this panel we will be joined by James Hadley, executive director of the UK Musical Theatre Network (MTN), and award-winning composer and musical supervisor Tim Sutton.

MTN is an organisation focused on the professional development and staging of new UK musicals. The organisation also runs BEAM, a unique biannual showcase festival. West End shows Operation Mincemeat and Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) are notable BEAM success stories.

James and Tim will be reflecting on their experiences nurturing new musicals and building a national network that advocates for the genre of musical theatre and promotes artistic excellence.

The sessions will be chaired by Nina Norblad, musical artist and director of the musical theatre programme at HSM.
